Fitness and the Geek

Yes I can I am not old.

I still play computer games. I enjoy a competitive game of cricket or soccer as much as the next guy. I like playing games with the nieces and nephews and should someone challenge me to a race (running or cycling), I'll probably accept no matter how badly I will lose.

I'm also not young either.

I'm two years away from turning the ripe old age of 30.  read more »

Omegle - Strange and Wonderful

I know I haven't posted in a while, but this is just too good to pass on! So I'm making time to post this.

Check out the following website called Omegle. It allows you to chat with a complete stranger... at random. Whenever you want.

It's a quirky idea, but I suddenly found myself chatting to complete strangers for no reason at all... and enjoying it!

Maybe it's because I can finally overlook the parental advice warning us 'not to talk to strangers' and be quite safe about it?

Life Happens...

So it's been a while since I have blogged.

On one side of the coin, I feel guilty, as my blog really is something quite personal to me. A place where I can vent, discuss, share, opine (is that even a word?) and just plain get my thoughts out of my head.

The flipside of the coin reflects something different though. Life has been hectic and I really don't feel guilty for taking some 'me time'.

The last few months have been somewhat of a blur and it has only been the last week or so that things finally started feeling normal again.  read more »

Aardklop... klop... klop...

What a crazy weekend.

We went to my in-laws in Potchefstroom for the weekend. It was a two-pronged approach really.

One, we get to visit with the family which is something I always enjoy. Two, we get to experience another crazy weekend of Aardklop.

We went there filled with hope and excitement at seeing what the show has to offer again. Entrance is free, the food is great (especially the GIANT 38cm diameter pancakes) and the atmosphere is electrifying.

And then you stop to look at the people around you.

What do you see?  read more »

Victory!

I've been having problems with random reboots on my home computer for the past month or so.

It just wasn't worth it to work on the stupid thing anymore.

As a result, my blogging levels were down, Facebook usage was down (although I know a few people who wouldn't consider that a bad thing) and I would pretty much use the thing for essentials only, like paying bills online, etc.

Reboots would/could occur anywhere, anytime. I experienced reboots after 2 hours of use, 5 hours of use, even 2 minutes of use. Yes, it was that random.  read more »

Back

So I've been on a... what to call it?

A blogging hiatus?

I've been down to Cape Town to visit family and friends a week or two ago and even upon my return, I haven't exactly been in the best state of mind to return to blogging.

To top it all off, it feels like Lady Luck has stopped smiling upon me. In fact it feels like she is positively hating me.

First my TV blew up... even though I guess technically, a TV of the tube kind can only implode.  read more »

All the small things and 7 dirty ones

So it's been a busy week and weekend, and I haven't had much time to update everyone about it.

First off, on the game development front, I have managed to complete my first game!

It's something really stupid and small, but I've got two sprites, one bouncing around on the screen and another one is player-controlled. If the two sprites touch each other, game over.

I don't care what anyone says, but I am proud of it!  read more »

The road to recovery

I just had my first real plate of solid food.

Nothing much, but yonks better than the ProNutro I've been living off for the past few days!

I was lucky enough to experience very little to no swelling at all, due to the fact that my surgeon recommended a good dose of laser-based physiotherapy not 20 minutes after the procedure. I can tell you with all honesty that it works really well.  read more »
