Mysterious countdown at GoG
By now, most of you would have heard about GoG.com, that wonderful site called Good Old Games. I certainly blog about them quite regularly.
They have got a catalog of older games at really good prices. All of the games have been redesigned to work under Windows XP/Vista and best of all, they are DRM free!
They almost constantly have weekend specials running on their site, offering discounts on certain games or series of games. For this reason, I check back with them regularly to see if they haven't got anything that I would like.
This morning though, they have got a mysterious countdown clock on their frontpage.
Currently, the clock has a little more than three days to go.
The most mysterious thing about the countdown clock is the peculiar wording: "Expect the unexcelled"
Unexcelled?
The forums are rife with people speculating as to what those words could mean. The official GOG forums have got a thread running with regards to the meaning of the mysterious message.
The speculations are wild and range from suggestions that they will be releasing Deus Ex... to speculations that they are releasing Excel 97.
Personally, I think a countdown clock means something bigger. I suspect they have signed with one of the major publishers. It could even be as big a publisher as Blizzard or EA.
Blizzard would be able to put games like Black Thorne, Lost Vikings and Diablo up for sale.
EA on the other hand could release games like Baldur's Gate, System Shock and Planescape Torment!
What do you think will be happening at GoG in three days time?

Old game remakes
I have no idea regarding the "unexcelled" mystery but am delighted to hear about GoG for the first time! I am a huge fan of golden oldies and have always run them on emulators such as Dosbox.
To know that someone is finally remaking these to work on newer operating systems is very exciting! Do they perhaps take suggestions on what games to remake?
Absolutely!
In fact, they have a whole system for voting for games that you would like to see released in the future.
Just go to the following link and have a look!
Not sure if you need an account to go there, but it doesn't hurt to register one does it? ;)
