The lurking beast

It has been lurking for a while now. Waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Waiting to catch me unaware.

This morning it struck. I was left defenseless.

This morning, I had my first asthma attack in two months. Not a bad one, but even as I write this entry, I can feel my breath being short and not getting the same amount of oxygen into my lungs that I normally do.

I didn't have my asthma pump with me either. Quite stupid of me actually.

To be honest, I don't think I've had my pump with me for weeks. My cycling has been going well and I've made many a morning trip of 15km's to the office without a hitch.

For some reason, this morning was different. Not weatherwise though, that was good. The only difference was that the beast knew I was unprepared.

I thought my asthma would improve with time. I've been telling people how great it is to be more fit than usual and how wonderful it is not to have had an asthma attack in weeks.

Guess that safety record is now down the drain.

Best of all, I forgot my shoes at home as well. So guess who's working at his desk in a fancy uniform and sneakers?

It's going to be a long day...
