Turning 30: The geeky way

I am a geek. I identify myself with the word and I sometimes even introduce myself as a geek to people I meet. It kind of sums up who I am. I am a geek and I am proud of it.

There is still a little bit of a negative connotation to the word, but the world is opening up to us more and more. People like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs have become household names. The big companies of the world are all technology companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Yahoo and Twitter.

What makes it easier for most geeks is having a family that understands you and your geekiness.

So when I was carted off to Horwood's Farm under the pretense of going cycling, imagine my delight when I arrive at my surprise birthday party, surrounded by family and friends. Now imagine my absolute pleasure when I figured out my wife made it an Android themed party!

So thank you to my wife, my family and my friends who understand who and what I am. It was an awesome day and I can't think of a better way to have spent it.
